The 2020 season provided a frustrating closure to another disappointing chapter in Lions' history. Despite Matthew Stafford, a top 10 quarterback, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 26 touchdowns, the Lions ended the year with a dismal record, their third consecutive losing season and last-place finish in the NFC North. The previous two decades had seen a revolving door of head coaches—seven in total—only yielding three playoff appearances and a winless season in 2008.
