This goal was hindered by a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mandate, limiting output due to safety concerns stemming from a door blowout incident with an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9. As anticipated, a strike by Boeing machinists further complicated matters, derailing production plans and delaying recovery.
