Part 4/9:
These two galaxies, alongside the smaller Triangulum galaxy, comprise the Local Group, a galactic congregation about 10 million light-years across filled with numerous dwarf galaxies. Surrounding the Local Group is a collection known as the Council of Giants, a ring of around a dozen galaxies, forming part of a more extensive structure known as the Virgo Supercluster. The Virgo Cluster itself, housing 1,000 to 2,000 galaxies, serves as a crucial gravitational focal point.
