While Antarctica has breathable air and accessible water resources trapped in ice, Mars lacks these essential elements crucial for human survival. The atmosphere on Mars is insufficient, comprising mainly carbon dioxide, and the planet has no surface liquid water available for construction or consumption. Moreover, the thin atmosphere presents a lethal danger as it does not provide adequate pressure to sustain human life.
In contrast to the formidable conditions of Mars, Antarctica is relatively hospitable for temporary survival, requiring only protective clothing to endure the bitter cold. This stark difference emphasizes the monumental task ahead for any prospective Mars colonists.
