Confusion and Change in Testimony
What followed was a series of police interviews that revealed increasing confusion in Mortensson's account. Initially, she recounted the details of the encounter; however, in subsequent interviews, her narrative became less clear. At times, she indicated that the events might have been a distorted dream or that intoxication impaired her perception, leading her to claim she was "too drunk" to accurately recall what happened.
Moreover, inconsistencies arose when Mortensson suggested that one of the victims may have descended the stairs before experiencing fatal injuries, a statement that contradicted established facts about the victims' locations.
