Rather than dismissing the very notion of free will, one can argue that it emerges as a human-scale phenomenon. While our neuronal firing is subject to deterministic or probabilistic laws, our ability to make choices—however influenced by numerous aspects of our lives—still exists. We are capable of reflection, deliberation, and considering alternatives, contributing to a semblance of agency.

Even if one chooses to view decisions as part of a chain of prior events, this doesn't necessarily absolve responsibility. Acknowledging past influences and environmental factors complicates the issue but does not eliminate the individual's capacity for choice.
