Despite the public's excitement, the actual advancements in AI date back to the year 2000, when deep learning—the methodology that would revolutionize AI—began to take shape. Deep learning seeks to simulate human neuroscience by developing algorithms that enable computers to learn through experiences, much like how humans do. Around this time, computers began to show behaviors that resembled learning; they were programmed to improve based on rewards for correct answers and penalties for mistakes.
