Prospects for Diplomatic Engagement
Looking ahead, the potential for meaningful diplomatic engagement, especially between key leaders like Trump and Putin, raises further questions. The expectation that leaders from China, Turkey, or the Middle East would significantly influence negotiations appears dubious. Each of these leaders carries baggage that makes them less suitable for mediating critical discussions pertaining to European interests.
Instead, the role of moderating powers such as Qatar, Dubai, or Saudi Arabia in facilitating dialogue may be more fitting, even if their influence remains limited. As the world evolves, Europe may have to reconceptualize its diplomatic strategy to navigate the choppy waters ahead.
