Interestingly, the council did not discuss which texts would be included in the Bible; by that point in history, major texts were already recognized by the early Christian church. The canonization of scripture would take place over centuries, as early Christians discerned the authoritative nature of various writings.
The Origins of Popular Myths
Huff points out that the myth of Nicaea being the birthplace of the Christian canon can be traced to several sources. One such source is Jerome, an early church father whose writings contained ambiguous references that were later exaggerated. Additionally, a ninth-century document, Sonata Conventis, claimed that the council miraculously determined the canon of scripture through divine intervention, a sensational claim with no historical basis.
