Tropicana Field, originally conceived as the Florida Sun Coast Dome in the early 1990s, serves as another example of poor stadium planning. Although it was constructed to attract an MLB team, fan support remained tepid, contributing to its inability to secure necessary renovations or a new facility. The choice to build a dome during a time when many teams were opting for more open-air, fan-friendly venues has since been criticized for being inherently flawed.
Consequently, the outdated design has made Tropicana Field one of the least-favored stadiums, leaving many to question its very existence and feasibility for a new venue on the horizon.
