China's journey to the forefront of the battery and EV market has roots that trace back to the early 2000s when the government recognized the potential of clean energy technologies. A pivotal figure, Wang Gang, inspired the government with his vision to leapfrog to the forefront of the automotive industry by prioritizing electric energy solutions.

The move was fueled by three critical challenges confronting China: the pervasive issue of air pollution, fierce reliance on oil imports, and a long-standing ambition to enhance its global industrial competitiveness. In response to these issues, the Chinese leadership began aggressively investing in battery technology and supporting the development of domestic electric vehicle brands.
