A standout feature of the planned hypersonic bomber is its propulsion system, expected to utilize a turbine-based combined cycle air-breathing jet engine. This engine incorporates a traditional turbofan for takeoff and landing, alongside a scramjet for achieving and sustaining speeds exceeding Mach 5 during cruising. The engine's thrust is estimated to fall within the 30,000 to 38,000 lb range—similar to that of the Pratt & Whitney F119 engine used in the F-22 Raptor.
