For instance, prestigious institutions like Duke University and Harvard now boast annual tuition fees that hover around $80,000 to $90,000. Much of this increase is attributed to the burgeoning costs associated with general education courses, which many see as an institutional scam designed to bleed students dry financially. General education classes, which introduce students to a litany of subjects irrelevant to their core studies, add more financial strain, as they are essentially paid for twice—once in high school and again in college.
