From an external, objective perspective, it operates similarly to a highly advanced machine; photons enter through the eyes, initiating signals that travel via the optic nerve to the brain. Here, a synchronized firing of neurons culminates in what we might perceive as an action. This mechanistic view of the brain leads one to wonder about the relationship between physical processes and subjective experience.
