In understanding perception, neuroscience plays a pivotal role. It has been shown that approximately one-third of the human brain’s cortex is actively involved in vision. While it may feel as though we are simply observing the world, we are instead fabricating our visual experiences in real time. The billions of neurons and trillions of synapses engaged in vision serve not merely to capture images but to construct the very shapes, colors, and movements we perceive. Thus, our understanding of reality might be more akin to navigating a complex computer interface than a straightforward observation of the world around us.
