Maxwell's paradox raised eyebrows and ignited a wave of skepticism among physicists. Many were compelled by the idea that there must be some flaw in Maxwell's reasoning. Over the next century, a diverse range of theories and thought experiments emerged, some more prominent than others, in an effort to resolve this paradox. Among these, two key contributions stand out: Léon Brillouin's insights on the connection between thermodynamics and information theory, and Rolf Landauer's principle regarding the consequences of information deletion.
