Part 1/11:
The Bolsheviks and the Legacy of Power
Throughout the tumultuous history of early 20th-century Russia, the rise of the Bolsheviks marked a fundamental shift in the country's sociopolitical landscape. What the Bolsheviks claimed to oppose, notably the oppressive measures enforced under the Tsarist regime, they eventually adopted and expanded to a far greater extent. This article explores how the Bolsheviks’ draconian policies became emblematic of Soviet power under Lenin and later Stalin, illustrating the paradox of revolution: to dismantle traditional structures of oppression only to recreate them anew.
