The tactics of coercion and control became tools to eliminate any semblance of dissent. Marxism, fundamentally opposed to religion, sought to suppress faith in favor of ideological conformity. The result was a systematic campaign against religious groups, including instances where dissidents were exiled or starved into submission. Whole communities faced brutal treatments aimed at eradicating any trace of differing beliefs, culminating in the infamous concentration camps that became synonymous with the Stalinist era.
