Despite the massive commercial success of Tetris, its creator Alexey Pajitnov found himself still working within the Soviet system without any financial reward for the game that had transformed the video game industry. It wasn't until 1991 that the tides turned for Pajitnov when he emigrated to the United States with the help of Rogers, who granted him an opportunity to finally gain ownership of his creation.
In a notable turn of events, Pajitnov and Rogers formed The Tetris Company, with Pajitnov finally seeing royalties for his laborious creation. Today, Tetris stands as a hallmark of gaming history, attracting sales exceeding 170 million copies and earning a cherished place in both the annals of video game development and 1980s pop culture.
