Part 2/9:

Their initial lineup included Marr and Morrissey, along with Marr’s friend Steve Pomfret on bass. Without a drummer, they made do with a three-track cassette recorder to capture their early jams. However, Pomfret left the band before they could solidify their sound. They brought in bassist Dale Hibbert, who worked at Manchester’s Decibel Studios, allowing them access to record their first demo in August 1982. Although they initially recorded with drummer Simon Wolstencroft, he decided against joining due to dissatisfaction with Morrissey's vocal style. The band soon recruited Mike Joyce as their drummer, setting the stage for their sound.
