The journey to success wasn't straightforward. Simmons produced a demo for the band but struggled to secure a record deal. The pivotal moment came when Doug Messenger introduced them to Ted Templeman, an A&R rep at Warner Brothers. A fateful performance at the Starwood coincided with a rainy night in mid-1977, where its audience included key figures from Warner Brothers. Impressed by their energetic showcase, they were offered a recording contract, leading to the conception of their debut album.
