Proximity
As relationships develop, proximity can lead to taking one another for granted. Being overly familiar often dulls the initial thrill, as partners become more like functionary figures in each other's lives rather than romantic interests.
Familiarity
Women, in particular, may lose interest when they become too comfortable. It is suggested that even while raising children together, maintaining separate living arrangements might offer a beneficial distance that preserves excitement and novelty.
