Columbia University's Levien Gymnasium takes the unconventional design concept to another level. Located in New York City, it opened in 1974 with a mere 2,700-seat capacity. The arena's low ceilings and unassuming bleachers give it a high school gymnasium feel, distinguishing it from larger Division I arenas.
D Event Center: A Circular Showcase
Lastly, we have the D Event Center, where Weber State plays in Ogden, Utah. The external round design translates into the interior, where seating forms a perfect circle surrounding the court, visually impressive and satisfying. Opened in 1977 with a capacity of 11,500, the arena also incorporates additional seating arrangements like chairs on the floor.
