Built to accommodate the 1942 World Exhibition—a plan ultimately scuttled by the onset of war—elements from Mussolini’s vision remain today.
Then there's EUR, a suburb conceived as part of Mussolini's "third Rome." This ambitious objective sought to position fascism as a modern continuation of Roman heritage, characterized by its cold, geometric architectural style reminiscent of ancient Rome but devoid of the warmth and community of traditional neighborhoods.
