Vito Genovese immigrated to New York from Naples at the age of 15, joining a wave of Italian migrants settling in the burgeoning city. Growing up in the impoverished streets of New York, Genovese quickly found that his life would be riddled with violence and crime. He was involved in numerous criminal activities, earning a reputation as a formidable enforcer and, eventually, a hitman.
