One of the more glaring moments of this disconnect was when Myers, who now resides in a luxurious New York City penthouse, took a stance against Donald Trump’s joke about buying Canada. Such virtue signaling, especially from someone who left his home country for personal gain, feels disingenuous to many. How can someone advocate for a cause while seemingly detached from its ramifications on their life?
Ultimately, the disappointment lies in Myers not delivering. He reverted to familiar character tropes rather than showcasing his range and talent—and ultimately, became a 'one-trick pony' yet again, doing a poor impression of Dr. Evil instead of embracing the inherent comedy within direct political commentary.
