In 1905, with unprecedented success in his ventures, Barber turned his focus to an ambitious project: a 3,500-acre "scientific farm" just outside Barberton. From 1909 onwards, he worked tirelessly to transform this land into a sprawling complex, the crown jewel of which was the Anna Dean Farm estate—named after his daughter Anna and her husband. The estate featured 35 elegant buildings, equipped with the latest technology in farming and set within picturesque grounds open to the public every Sunday.
The highlight of the estate was the extravagant mansion boasting 52 rooms and a glass-topped elevator. Constructed at an unprecedented pace, it was soon recognized by newspapers as the most impressive residence in the region.
