The geographical location was carefully selected, with ideal seabed conditions making the immersed tunnel approach optimal. The seabed's smooth profile allows the tunnel to be placed directly onto it while using significantly less concrete compared to traditional boring methods. The construction is managed as three distinct projects: dredging the tunnel trench, building a factory for element production, and finally casting, outfitting, and placing the tunnel sections underwater.
Environmental Considerations and Sustainability
Despite a lack of visible surface activity, the project contributes positively to the environment. The seabed material being replaced has been repurposed to create new wetlands, enhancing biodiversity and providing valuable recreational spaces nearby.
