Unfortunately, the early stages of Wilson's professional career were plagued by poor decisions. After holding out during training camp for a contract, he was placed on the COVID-19 list but eventually signed and started training. His off-field decisions soon began to overshadow his potential on the field; incidents included a party at which police were called, and later, a DUI arrest that ensued just days before the regular season commenced.
Wilson's troubles hindered his ability to perform with the team, resulting in minimal game action during his rookie year. In fact, he logged barely any snaps, coming onto the field in a capacity that hardly resembled an active player.
