In this hypothetical scenario, a scientist creates a machine linked to a quantum particle that, based on its state of superposition, can either result in the scientist's survival or instant demise. Every measurement would multiply the universe into branches where the scientist experiences survival, suggesting a scenario where one perceives themselves as immortal. However, this experiment also highlights the "survivorship bias" — while the scientist may believe they survive, the external observer sees them die, complicating claims of immortality.
