The story also begins 2,500 km away in Idaho Falls, where barley—the soul of the beer—undergoes malting. This crucial step involves germinating and roasting barley to prepare it for brewing.

In the Idaho falls malt house, barley is steeped in water, tricking the seed into sprouting. After germination, it’s transferred to kilns for drying, producing pale malt. This pale malt is loaded onto railcars to be transported back to St. Louis, where it will become Budweiser.
