Historically, most smartphones and electric vehicles have relied on lithium-ion batteries, primarily constructed with nickel, manganese, and cobalt (NMC) for their cathodes. These materials, while efficient, also have ethical dilemmas attached to them, such as child labor and environmental concerns. On the other hand, recent developments in the battery sector, particularly from China, have shown a marked shift towards lithium polymer and silicon carbon batteries, which promise greater capacity and faster charging.
