In their latest policy proposal, OpenAI refers to Deep Seek as a "state-subsidized and state-controlled" entity, advocating for a ban on models that come from organizations with similar operational structures as Deep Seek. OpenAI articulates the need for "freedom of intelligence," which they equate with securing democratic values against the backdrop of authoritarian regimes. However, this assertion appears paradoxical. While decrying the risks associated with Deep Seek, they simultaneously request government measures that could infringe on user freedoms and access to technology.
