Part 6/10:
The key to the Sea Shadow's innovative stealth capabilities was its SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) design. Unlike conventional ships, this design minimized resistance to waves and reduced the vessel's radar profile. It allowed for concealed operation, with critical components positioned to decrease detection likelihood by radar, sonar, and infrared sensors. By utilizing its submerged hulls and angular structure, Sea Shadow could traverse even the roughest seas while maintaining low visibility.
Yet, the Sea Shadow was not conceived as a conventional warship. With limited speed and weaponry, its primary purpose was to serve as a testbed for stealth technologies. Inside, the ship provided basic provisions for a small crew, allowing engineers to observe its functions closely.
