Part 2/7:
Otto Warmbier, an ambitious student set to study abroad in Hong Kong, took a detour to North Korea in December 2015, traveling through a tour company that claimed it was safe for U.S. citizens. What was supposed to be a thrilling adventure took a fiendishly dark turn during what should have been a festive New Year celebration.
Just hours after a night filled with celebrations, Otto was accused of attempting to steal a propaganda poster, an act deemed criminal in North Korea. He was arrested and subsequently vanished behind bars without any communication for over six weeks.
