The Downside of Performance Enhancement
However, the unrestrained use of Pervatin came with dire consequences. By late 1941, with the invasion of the Soviet Union underway, the detrimental effects of the drug became increasingly apparent. Soldiers experienced addiction, psychosis, and severe health crises, with many suffering fatal side effects, including heart failure.
