Ford’s character trades on familiar tropes and enables social commentary, making light of themes about isolationism and misguided allegiances, yet the execution leaves much to be desired. Alongside them, Tim Blake Nelson as the film's villain showcases commendable acting, giving audiences a glimpse of what could have been if the film had better foundations.
