China's exports to Global South countries are now surpassing those to developed markets. The statistics underscore a significant shift in trade dynamics. In December 2024, China exported about $137 billion to Global South nations, contrasting sharply with the $18 billion sent to developed markets – a category that comprises the US, Europe, Japan, and Australia.
Notably, while exports to the US have decreased from 20% to 15% over the span of seven years, exports to countries like Indonesia have surged. This financial uptick is particularly pronounced in Indonesia, where exports from China increased by a staggering 50% year-over-year.
