A Surge in Registrations and Investments
Recent statistics highlight the remarkable rise in international company registrations in Hong Kong. In 2016, approximately 1,100 mainland Chinese companies had their operations based in Hong Kong. However, by 2023, that number had skyrocketed, with many industries, particularly financial services, establishing a firm base in the city.
In fact, data from InvestHK illustrates that in 2023, 382 international companies registered in Hong Kong, a 27% increase from the previous year. Moreover, predictions for 2024 suggest an even more substantial uptick of 41%, with a majority of the new establishments hailing from mainland China.
