Beyond the immediate impacts on the U.S. markets, international stock exchanges are similarly suffering. In Europe, two of the key indexes are currently down, diminishing previous gains made throughout the year, while Asia is not faring any better. The Tokyo Nikkei index experienced a substantial drop of 7.8%, and South Korea's stock market fell by more than 5%. Additionally, the Chinese index closed down by over 7%, prompting the Chinese government to increase its holdings in the stock market to stabilize conditions.
