When voters believe their plights stem from systemic oppression, accountability for personal and communal challenges diminishes—a phenomenon that particularly benefits incumbents who rely on their affected constituents' loyalty.
Obama, who had the historical opportunity to alter this dynamic, instead reinforced the narrative of systemic racism. This approach not only sustained a cycle of grievance but also neglected addressing the real issues facing Black communities, such as insufficient educational systems, family instability, and societal dependency.
