Essential Ingredients for Perfect Hot Chocolate
The cornerstone of a great hot chocolate is, unsurprisingly, chocolate itself. For this recipe, you will need four ounces of your favorite chocolate: semi-sweet or dark chocolate with a cocoa percentage between 50% to 60% works best. Whether you use chocolate bars or chocolate chips, make sure to finely chop it to ensure it melts seamlessly.
Milk plays a vital role as well. You can choose your preferred type of milk, whether it’s dairy or dairy-free. Whole or coconut milk may yield a creamier result due to their higher fat content, but all varieties will lend a delicious quality to the brew.
