The journey to creating Vlit begins with the essential ingredients: butter, sugar, flour, yeast, salt, milk, and either cream or an egg for a golden finish. The process starts with warming the milk to a precise temperature of 37°C before adding fresh yeast along with sugar and salt.
The recipe calls for between 450 to 500 grams of flour, and based on experience, it’s important to start with 450 grams and adjust as needed. The mixture is kneaded until well combined, yielding a soft dough that will need to rise.
After letting the dough rise for about half an hour, it’s time for shaping. The dough is divided into smaller portions, then allowed to rise again before baking. Once golden brown and enticingly aromatic, the finished buns are ready for their signature topping.
