Next, add 1/2 cup of flour to the skillet, cooking it for another 3 minutes while stirring continuously. Gradually whisk in 2 1/2 cups of chicken broth and 1 1/2 cups of milk, followed by half a teaspoon of dried basil, 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of cracked black pepper.
