Once your dough has risen, use a sharp knife or a bread lame to score the top. This allows for better oven spring and enhances the appearance of your loaf.

Place the loaf in the preheated oven with the steam tray and bake for 20 minutes. After this initial timeframe, reduce the temperature to 200°C (392°F) and continue baking for another 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 8: Cooling and Enjoying

When your bread is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack. A cooling period is important to allow the inside to set properly. The crust should have a nice golden color, and you’ll hear a lovely crackling sound as it cools.
