Hello Hivers, today I'm going to talk to you about NFTs. I'd like to explain for those who aren't familiar and for those who are well-versed, I'd like to create a discussion where we can all share our thoughts and learn from each other.
To begin with, it's essential to understand that cryptocurrency, in a general sense, have changed the world and altered our perspective in recent years. In recent times, we've witnessed the rise and revolution of a concept that combines art and creativity with cryptocurrencies - these are NFTs.
So, what are NFTs? Well, they are digital assets that represent ownership of digital items, such as artworks, music, and even video games. What distinguishes NFTs from other cryptocurrencies is that they are non-fungible, meaning they can't be exchanged one-to-one.
One of the remarkable features of NFTs is that artists and creators can sell their work on the blockchain. The security provided by a blockchain is highly effective since the data isn't stored on a single server but across several, creating what we call decentralization, a fundamental characteristic of hive.
Artists can sell their work, imagine painters and photographers sharing their art with the world and selling it, all while ensuring it can't be duplicated. This leads to a profound shift in the art market.
Speaking of this, I can't help but envision iconic artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and Vincent Van Gogh selling their masterpieces through NFT markets. It's an exciting and unique prospect.
Now, you might be wondering, how is art commercialized through NFTs?
Well, the NFT market operates in an exciting way, with works being sold through auctions and direct sales, often reaching astronomical prices.
Now, the question arises: how do NFTs function in Cuba?
Well, just like in other places, it has become an innovative way to connect local artists, and fortunately, you can receive payments through the use of virtual wallets. This is crucial in Cuba, as some platforms like YouTube require a Paypal account from abroad to earn money. Such platforms restrict the development of talent in Cuba. I hope even platforms like YouTube will soon allow earning money with the use of virtual wallet .
Due to some governmental and political restrictions, Cubans don't have access to certain cryptocurrencies and even some NFT platforms. However, one thing that characterizes Cubans is our resilience, and we always find a way.
Cuban creators, like all artists, can sell their works as NFTs on platforms like OpenSea or Rarible. This allows them to gain exposure to a global audience and receive direct payments without the need for clear intermediaries. Of course, talent is essential, but there's an abundance of it in Cuba.
Hopefully, Cubans can catch up with the rest of the world in the development of NFTs and cryptocurrencies. Fortunately, little by little, the rest of the world is implementing cryptocurrencies for everything. In my opinion, I believe physical money should not exist, and all transactions should be done online, with cryptocurrencies, of course.
In my particular case, I'm interested in the connection between NFTs and the world of science and research, as I have a degree in chemistry from the University of Havana, and I'm passionate about the world of science, especially chemistry.
Did you know that NFTs can be used to verify the identity of a scientific article? Scientists can link their research to NFTs, demonstrating the originality of their work and preventing plagiarism. Scientists can also sell all their research, even patents, as NFTs. Furthermore, all the data and scientific research can be encapsulated in NFTs, preserving important information for future generations and enabling continuous improvement.
Of course, there's the question of what role NFTs play in Hive.
Users on Hive have created and sold their works through NFTs. Using NFTs for Hive makes sense, as Hive is known for its decentralization and active community. Moreover, Hive's efficiency in terms of pricing and platform growth makes the creation and transfer of NFTs much more accessible.
NFTs are evolving rapidly, to the point where even real estate is being traded through NFTs. With the current trajectory, NFTs may become leaders in the world of cryptocurrencies.
I even believe that with the implementation and assistance of artificial intelligence, we could see millions of artists emerging, simply requiring a good imagination to succeed. Imagine conversing with artificial intelligence, asking it to paint Lionel Messi's face with Joe Biden's features against the backdrop of Havana's Malecón, and receiving the image in seconds. It's truly remarkable.
In my opinion, artificial intelligence might overshadow true artists to some extent. This isn't to say there aren't genuine artists, but distinguishing human-made art from AI-generated art is becoming increasingly challenging. However, if we harness the power of artificial intelligence, we can create magnificent works of art.
I recommend that all artists explore the world of NFTs, and for those already involved, please share your experiences with the NFT community. Additionally, anyone interested in discussing artificial intelligence and the future is welcome to participate. These are topics that I find fascinating and highly relevant.
