A few months ago I made a blog post asking folks whether the future of the Hive blockchain is SocialFi or business back end.
You can check it out here.
And, I know, they are not mutually exclusive. My point was to generate a bit of discussion on how some of us might want to focus on one use case, while another group of users focus on bringing individuals.
I did a search today for a "Hive accepted here" image, and about three images came up.
I followed up with another search: Bitcoin accepted here. Guess how many images came up:
Bazillions.
I've heard it said many ways..
Let's use Bitcoin as a liquidity layer
Let's piggy back on Bitcoin
Let's use Bitcoin as a Trojan horse
So I'd like to bring up the idea again: Don't you think there's an opportunity to harness the liquidity and the brand recognition of Bitcoin, while using the Hive blockchain on the back end?
Bitcoin payments on mobile
I make videos of myself paying Bitcoin Lightning invoices at shops. I start by telling people I'm going to pay at a place that accepts Bitcoin and then proceed to use my V4Vapp.
I do this because people recognize the word Bitcoin and also I understand the blockchain and apps enough to where I can make it happen and look easy, but the truth is there a few steps you need to take and there is definitely a learning curve. For this to really take off, it has to be absolutely dummy proof.
Say, for example, further development of the VSC network leads to a user-friendly payment terminal on a mobile device that expresses all value in local currency or US Dollars, but uses the Hive Blockchain on the backend.
The customer sees a QR with the price in USD
this one is for $1.00
They scan it, it does all the magic in the back end.
They each get a confirmation screen on their device when the transaction goes through, and both parties go about their business.
It should be THAT easy for the user.
We don't have to convince people to use another coin on another network, when they can just use the good ol' name Bitcoin. The most liquid, sovereign digital asset remains the king of liquidity (I guess you could say it goes back to being digital gold) and uses the amazing Hive network to move it around without fees and without wait.
Hive has many narratives, and this one here:
The fast and feeless way of sending and receiving Bitcoin
I think is a huge one.
What do you think?

I've been using Wirex for a few years now. I can store cryptocurrencies there (I prefer Stellar XLM because HIVE is unavailable there), while paying in the store they are converted to FIAT. This is the only solution of this type that I know. Many different FIATs are supported. The advantage is that if the crypto market is growing, I can hold cryptocurrencies on Wirex and when paying, only the amount needed to make the payment is converted. Fees are at an acceptable level. Wirex card (MasterCard) does not support GPay so I use Curve as an intermediary. Wirex is connected to Curve and Curve is connected to GPay. The duration of the operation is more than satisfactory, the whole thing takes only a few seconds and so far I have not had any problems. On X dot com you will find a lot of objections about Wirex, especially about the support, but so far I can't say anything bad.
If you'll forgive me for the affiliate links, then...
Wirex
Curve
But you know very well how to get rid of the affiliate part of the link :)
So you use your Wirex card to pay at regular shops with regular credit card terminals?
Yes, actually I pay contactless with smartphone, holding crypto instead of FIATs all the time. So it's like I'm paying with crypto everywhere.
Cool! I just read an article that Wirex came out with W-Pay, a non-custodial solution that uses SK Tech and Polygon to allow users to have complete control of their funds while using the Wirex card.
Yes, it's a new solution, but I haven't recognized it properly yet.
I saw a bitcoin exchange teller in a somewhat bad part of town the other day. Trust me I was a little shocked but also like the idea of it.
What were you doing in a bad part of town? 🤔
Haha, but yeah, Bitcoin adoption has been growing in my country and in neighboring El Salvador. So why not use that to our advantage and show people that Hive is both a better alternative to Lightning and it has it's own stable coin plus its own speculative asset.
Oh laughs, close to work and it was one of the better tuck shops around. 🤣🤣
Hive is like a whole eco system on its own! Give it time and you'll see the gaming side of it explode massively!!
I know very little about it, but it seems like a useful thing, man. I read something about BTC transfers recently. We could market Hive that way. That would attract more users and it would be great if even a few of them joined Hive.
Most importantly, it would attract more merchants. By having more places where people can spend Bitcoin, Hive and HBD it would accelerate adoption of end users.
That's another benefit. It can also contribute to your idea of a circular economy.
I don't have any businesses near me that accepts BTC payments so I can't test it. But I do agree with your post. We need to capitalize on the popularity of BTC and use it to boost Hive. By marketing that you used BTC to pay for things, you are targeting a very wide audience. By saying you used v4v, and earned it thru Inleo, you then redirect them to the Hive ecosystem. This is very smart, and I hope we get more people because of it.
There are a bunch of places in my neighborhood and my city overall, so I guess I have that advantage.
I'm going to make more videos; you're welcome to use and share them :)
Thanks. I'm looking forward to them.
very good stuff, more of this!
💂♀ I'll keep it coming!

Thanks for noticing and supporting my content. I noticed you are running a witness node. I'll support it too.
@alex-rourke,
You are welcome.
Thank you so much for your witness vote.
It motivates me a lot & I'll continue doing good work 🙏 on Hive ♦️
I’d check around me for where they receive BTC as payment so I’d give it a try
Thank you for sharing
Yes! more and more places are accepting Bitcoin all over the world. I'm sure there are a few spots in your city :)
I might not really know much about this but I guess the service is actually good couple with the fact that it is not expensive
It's the future. I'd recommend you start learning about it now and take advantage :)
