I'm just thinking of the thousands of possibilities that the HIVE blockchain of solving a current problem. There are thousands of problems out there that need solving.
I would just write a script to automate it. Less humans, less fuckups, less risk/expense.

I was just thinking that worst case (slowest, most manual case) we can use our text database to save a project like Wikipedia millions. I'm sure we can find a smaller project and solve the same problem.

Storage Requirements: Due to the nature of a blockchain system, all the witness nodes would need to store the entire text content of Wikipedia, which is currently over 10 TB and grows constantly with edits and new articles. The current size of the hive blockchain is significantly smaller, less than 1 TB, and it's already challenging to synchronize new nodes quickly due to the data volume.
Software Limitations: The Hive blockchain software isn't designed for the scale of Wikipedia's operations. It would require a complete overhaul to manage the traffic and data processing demands, including handling of the massive volume of edits and views that Wikipedia experiences.
Cost Considerations: Wikipedia runs largely on donations and volunteer contributions. Moving to a blockchain where editors would have to buy HIVE to make edits would not only create a financial barrier to entry but would also discourage volunteering. Additionally, the cost of maintaining the necessary infrastructure across possibly hundreds of nodes would likely exceed Wikipedia's current operational costs.
Tax Complications and Adoption Barriers: The need to handle cryptocurrencies to participate could impose tax implications and further deter potential editors and contributors. The process of obtaining HIVE would require users to navigate crypto exchanges and handle additional security concerns.

Cloud providers with the capability to support this are rare, and building custom server solutions would be prohibitively expensive for most participants and our current "ImageHoster" would not be able to support this, and it is likely we'd need the ability to delete content to satisfy copyright holders (when a full copyrighted work is uploaded, it is shrunk to a lower quality and then the full quality version is deleted on Wikipedia).
Decentralization vs. Practicality: While decentralization has notable benefits, it's also important to recognize that making 100x copies of the same data across nodes is not inherently efficient. It increases cost, complexity, and redundancy beyond practical limits.
Given these considerations, it's clear that while blockchain technology has its applications, porting a global, high-traffic resource like Wikipedia to the $HIVE blockchain is not currently feasible or economically sensible. Wikipedia's existing model, while not perfect, has proven effective at providing an open, free repository of knowledge with a cost structure that has successfully sustained it for years.
