Never Trump and Establishment Republicans Dump DeSantis for Nikki Haley

in LeoFinancelast year (edited)

Never Trumpers and Establishment Republicans were betting on Ron DeSantis to conquer MAGA, and prevent Trump from claiming from the Republican Nomination. DeSantis reached his is peak polling position at the end of January 2023 and has been in steady linear decline since with a height of 31.3% falling to 13.7% in the most recent polls. With only 50 days to go the Iowa Republican Primary, Never Trumpers are calling a last minute pivot to Nikki Haley. Legacy media seems more than happy to oblige giving Haley limitless microphone time on Cable News. CNN and MSNBC hasn't suddenly turned conservative - but they are more than willing to aid any efforts to impede Trump from reclaiming the White House.

Polling Data from Real Clear Politics

Establishment Republican support was signaled in a recent Business Insider Article titled "Top donors increasingly believe Nikki Haley can topple Trump in the GOP presidential primaries and they're telling others to open up their checkbooks" Several significant names are mentioned in the article, all long time opponents of Trump, the most important is probably Eric Levine - a serial GOP donor. Earlier reports indicate that Levine would be hosting a high-priced fundraising dinner for Haley's Super PAC "Team Stand For America."

Donations to Super PACs can substantially exceed individual contribution limits to the candidates campaign committee. Reviewing the visible donations to Haley's Super PAC there is some overlap with regular donors to the Israel Lobby. Haley has been substantially courting AIPAC and the Israel Lobby with daily messaging on Social Media and even appearances at John Hagee's Christians United For Israel (CUFI).

With only 50-days to the first primary Never-Trumpers have likely waited too late in the race, and have underestimated the base of support for Donald Trump. The Ronna McDaniel Republican Party is in turmoil, and at a recent low point for cash on hand. Iowa will tell the tale, but it is an all but foregone conclusion that Trump will be the Republican nominee for President.
