Nick Fuentes and Twitter - Limited Speech

in LeoFinance11 months ago (edited)

Elon Musk took over Twitter a bit over a year ago. Under Musk, the limits of speech were loosened but broad freedom remains illusory. After assuming owner Elon was immediately assailed by a variety of pressure groups, and even advertiser boycott. Speech controls have been incrementally returning to Twitter.

Nick Fuentes is perhaps one of the most controversial and compelling contemporary American speakers. Fuentes evokes rage from his detractors, and fervent loyalty from his followers, the Groyper Army. Fuentes espouses an America First ideology and Christian Nationalism underpinned by Catholic faith.

The Republican Party and Conservative Industrial Pundit Complex is deathly afraid that Fuentes and the Groypers will "infiltrate the Party."

In a 2023 Resolution the Republican National Committee asserted:

Fuentes used the analogy of "baking cookies" to express his incredulity of some claims that have been made with respect to the official Holocaust narrative. The cookies analogy, is essentially a logistical criticism, to question the infrastructure that would have been required to perpetrate the horrors charged to Germany. Questioning the events of the Holocaust is a third rail in American politics, and the emotional component invariably precludes rational discussion. Given the weight of the Holocaust observable even in contemporary American politics - rational discussion seems warranted.

Nick Fuentes has become an interesting test for American values and our commitment to freedom of speech. Fuentes is currently banned from almost every major social media platform including Twitter. The Twitter ban is an interesting accidental confession of intellectual weakness. Twitter and the organizations like the ADL that have pressured for Fuente's ban are substantiating that Fuentes is too compelling and that his arguments or ideological statements can not be countered or refuted with better speech. They argue the only counter to Fuentes is to censor or silence him.

This argument then is larger then than Fuentes and Groypers. The argument to censor is a rejection of the fundamental American principle, that with freedom of speech we can identify, discuss, and find solutions or at least a better understanding of the challenges that face the American People.

The urge to censor political speech is incompatible with the philosophies which gave birth to our Nation.

Every centralized platform is vulnerable to coercive pressure. InLeo.io is a front end portal to social media built on the Hive.io a decentralized block chain which offers strong censorship resistance.

Nick Fuentes publishes his video content on his own platform at https://cozy.tv/
